Arts and Entertainment in Guelph

The MacDonald Stewart Art Centre features permanent and temporary exhibitions of art throughout the year. The displays focus on historical and contemporary works of art as well as traditional crafts from all over the world.
Guelph’s alternative arts facility is located downtown in the Bookshelf Ebar Art Space. Here you can view monthly exhibits from artists of the local area as well as from other areas of the region.

Natural Attractions in Guelph

Visit the Guelph Lake area, which is a reservoir created by the Guelph Lake Dam. There are two beaches in this area where you can enjoy a relaxing swim or just laze around and work on your tan. There is also a covered concert area with what has been called a “living roof”. This means the roof of the structure is covered in grass and soil and has vegetation growing and thriving in it.

A View of the Downtown area of Guelph

You won’t have to look far for historic sites in Guelph because the streets of the downtown area are lined with houses that are at least 100 years old. Here you will also find many buildings of note, such as the Sleeman Centre and the Church of Our Lady Immaculate. This church was planned in the original design of the city and was intended to rival that of St. Peter’s Cathedral in Rome.
